Advantage Home Care believes home is (nearly always) best.  Covid-19 confirmed this.  Clients who live in facilities usually interact with multiple people daily – those who prepare and serve their meals, clean their apartments, do their laundry, and escort them to appointments.  Clients who live at home with the support of Advantage Home Care enjoy having one caregiver perform these normal daily activities.
Caregivers also appreciate greater control over their schedules and the number of people they see.  Advantage provides accurate care plans, free paid training, and free appropriate personal protective equipment.  We also partnered with Dr. Angela Jones to provide vaccinations to our staff as soon as we were eligible.  Advantage provides a permanent pay raise to caregivers who provide proof of both vaccines, just to reward their commitment to improving our community’s health.
At Advantage Home Care, we are convinced masks work.  Caregivers are expected to wear masks in all homes, even when clients display no symptoms of illness.  See the following data from Oregon.gov:
  • 21%vof infected residents in Oregon are 20-29 years old.
  • 53.9% of Covid positive in Oregon are between 20 and 49 years old.
  • ONLY 7.3% of infected people are health care workers.
  • This tells us that healthcare workers, who wear masks, are less prone to infection than the general public, even though they are at greater risk of exposure.
